3.2.14  The institution’s policies are clear concerning ownership of materials, compensation, copyright issues, and the use of revenue derived from the creation and production of all intellectual property. These policies apply to students, faculty, and staff.

Narrative:   

 

Mountain Empire Community College (MECC) and Virginia Community College System (VCCS) policies are clear concerning intellectual property.  The MECC Faculty and Staff Manual, Section 4.4A, identifies the Director of Planning and Community Relations as the Intellectual Property Administrator and references the policies in Section 12 of the VCCS Policy Manual as the intellectual property policies and procedures MECC follows (Ref. 3.2.14-1, 3.2.14-2).

 

Section 12 of the VCCS Policy Manual defines intellectual property and describes ownership and use of intellectual property. Section 4.4A of the MECC Faculty and Staff Manual describes how issues and disputes regarding intellectual property are resolved.

 

MECC and VCCS policies apply to students, faculty, and staff.  Policies pertaining to intellectual property are published in the VCCS Policy Manual , the MECC Faculty and Staff Manual, the MECC Distance Education Handbook (Ref. 3.2.14-3), and the MECC Student Handbook (Ref. 3.2.14-4).
