MECC, through the Virginia Community College System, has guaranteed admission agreements with many of Virginia’s top colleges and universities.

AIMS Higher Scholarship: Get two years of tuition-free education at MECC when you graduate from your high school meeting the AIMS eligibility requirements.

AIMS Higher Agreement with UVa- Wise: When you enroll at MECC as an Aims Higher Scholar, you get concurrent enrollment at UVa- Wise, with benefits at both colleges and free tuition when you transfer to UVa-Wise.

Transfer Grant: Graduate from MECC with an associate degree and eligibility criteria and get a $1,000 grant when you transfer to a Virginia four-year college or university. An extra $1,000 is available if you major in engineering, math, science, nursing, or teaching. (State guidelines pending.)

Articulation Agreements: MECC has agreements with many of Virginia’s colleges and universities and other colleges outside the state, such as ETSU, to help you easily transfer your community college credits.

Dual Enrollment: Earn college credit while in high school with an 80% to 90% savings on MECC’s tuition and even greater savings when you transfer these credits to a 4-year college or university. For students needing to review and refresh skills, the college provides developmental courses and tutoring services.

Decided? Undecided?

Perhaps you have chosen a major and a college to attend, or you know what you want to major in, but haven’t decided on the college, or you haven’t chosen a major, but have an idea of the college, or you have made no decisions about a major or a college! Mountain Empire Community College is the place to begin. The College Transfer program at MECC prepares you to enter a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree. The courses in MECC’s College Transfer program parallel those taken by freshmen and sophomores at other colleges and universities, and graduating from MECC with an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree can gain you junior status when you transfer. Approved MECC courses will transfer to other higher education institutions.
