MECC Begins 3rd Software Development Fast Track Program

The successful online Software Development Fast Track Program at Mountain Empire Community College will continue with a third offering to begin on January 14th.  Students who have participated in the first two cohorts of the Software Development Fast Track can now be found working at firms such as CGI-AMS and Northrop Grumman, two high-tech companies that recently located in the region, as well as other IT industries.  Individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in computer programming should plan to attend an information session on Monday, December 10 at 6 p.m. in the Goodloe Center at MECC.

To address the needs of software development companies, MECC developed the program to provide individuals an opportunity to advance their current skills or re-career in an area that is in high demand.  The program is designed for individuals who demonstrate an interest in technology and business, have strong problem-solving abilities, excellent organizational skills, and meet the requirements for admission.   The schedule of classes is fast-paced and rigorous, and provides students an opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to work as a programmer within a short period of time.

For more information on these classes and the Fast-Track Program, contact Vickie Ratliff, Dean of Business & Information Technology, at 276-523-6434 or vratliff@me.vccs.edu.  Enrollment will be limited; therefore, interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
