PTK Inducts New Members at MECC

Recently, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Mountain Empire Community College grew a bit larger with the induction of new members at a special ceremony held in Fugate Auditorium on campus. PTK was established in 1918 as a national honor society for two-year colleges, and is part of the Alpha Delta Psi chapter at MECC. The hallmarks of the society are service, leadership, and scholarship.

The guest speaker for the induction ceremony was Gary Bumgarner, MECC Professor of Business Management. After Bumgarner’s presentation, inductees repeated an oath of membership and signed the PTK membership book. New members who attended the special ceremony were Crystal Gayle Barnette, Darin Terrail Brandt, Chasity Lynette Gutierrez, Tammy Anne Hall, Jamie Lynn Hubbard, Michelle Hunter, Elizabeth Jane Kennedy, Reba Jean Kindle, Benjamin Isaac Lane, Christina DeAnn Oaks, Nicholas Todd Ratliff, Chelsea Dyan Rose, and Jennifer Melody Snead.

Other new PTK members include Caitlin Jorgensen Callahan, Stephanie Hope Carter, Katherine Ariel Cornett, Carmen Rae Davis, Pamela Louise Flanary, Debbie Ann Gainer, Lauren Margaret Hatfield, Travis Brandon Hurd, Leesa Jenelle Meade, Randa LeShae Meade, Carrie Stuart Mongle, Tara Michelle Oaks, Savanna Lea Parsons, Kaylah Anne Skorupa, Chelsey R. Slemp, and Tina Lou Willis.

These members met all requirements of PTK which include enrolling in an associate degree program, completing at least 12 semester hours of college-level work with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and enjoying full rights of citizenship.
