MECC-Lee Regional Medical Center-Wellmont Golf Classic Scheduled for August 3

The Mountain Empire Community College Foundation and Lee Regional Medical Center-Wellmont will host a golf tournament in memory of Shannon Evans on Friday, August 3 at Cedar Hill Country Club in Jonesville. Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships for MECC students, which will be awarded in memory of Evans, longtime and beloved golf pro at Cedar Hill for 30 years.

Registration for the Captain’s Choice tournament will begin at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The tournament will feature two flights, putting and chipping contests, as well as “Most Accurate Drive” and “Closest to the Pin” prizes. The entry fee is $60 per person, which includes a mulligan package, goodie bag, range balls, cart fees, green fees, and lunch delivered on the course.

All par-3 holes will have fabulous hole-in-one prizes. Players hitting a hole-in-one on Hole # 5 will win a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu sponsored by B-J Motor Company and Dotson Chevrolet-Olds.

Hole sponsorships are available for a $50 tax-deductible gift to the MECC Foundation. Signs will be placed on the golf course recognizing all hole sponsors.
