Winners Announced in Auto World – MECC Golf Classic

In a field of 30 teams, the A & A Security Services team was the first place winner in Division A of the Auto World – Mountain Empire Community College Golf Classic held on May 18 at Lonesome Pine Country Club. The team, made up of players Sam Adams, J. D. Adams, Adam Mahan, and Leroy Mullins, won with a score of 49. First place in Division B was the Alpha Natural Resources team with players Benny Wampler, Lynn Blevins, John Paul Jones, and Dan Helton.

Second place in Division A was the Crutchfield Corporation team including Wes Needham, Jason Johnson, Chuck McConnell, and Jackie Ramey. Taking third place in this division was the team from Trail Realty including Andy Jones, Mark Slemp, Drew Crabtree, and John Clark.

Division B second place winners were Ralph Thomas, Alan Dougherty, Dave Minnich, and Jim Fleenor from the Joy Mining Machinery team. Third place in this division went to the Mountain Forest Products team with players Greg Gambrel, Steve Morris, and Ben Connell.

The winner of the Putting Contest was Paxton Wright. There was a tie in the Chipping Contest with Haskell Bledsoe and Ben Connell sharing the prize. Mountain Empire Realty sponsored the Putting and Chipping Contest prizes.

The winner of the Most Accurate Drive contest was Don McDavid, and the winner of the Closest to the Pin contest was Lawrence Hamilton. SportsWise sponsored the Most Accurate Drive prize, while Gladeville Insurance Company sponsored the Closest to the Pin prize.
