Farmers and Miners Bank Announces Scholarship at MECC

Jonathan Brashear of Ewing, Virginia has been selected as the first recipient of the new Farmers and Miners Bank Scholarship that was recently established through the Mountain Empire Community College Foundation.  Jonathan is the son of Jeff and Teresa Brashear, and is majoring in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design at MECC.

“Farmers and Miners Bank is excited about the opportunity to invest in the people of southwest Virginia through the MECC Foundation,” said Terry Estep, President of Farmers and Miners Bank.  “This scholarship will enable deserving students to attend college and realize their academic potential.”

MECC President Terrance Suarez expressed appreciation to Estep and the board of Farmers and Miners Bank for establishing the scholarship.  Support from individuals and businesses such as Farmers and Miners Bank make it possible for the MECC Foundation to award more than 100 scholarships annually to students who have financial need and academic promise.
