Get a Head-Start on a Fast-Track Program at MECC
The workforce needs in Southwest Virginia are drastically changing as the result of high-tech firms such as CGI-AMS and Northrop Grumman locating in the region. To address the needs of these and other software development companies, Mountain Empire Community College is beginning a new Software Development Program to give a head-start to individuals who are interested in a career in information technology.
MECC will offer a Software Development Fast-Track Program for individuals who demonstrate an interest in technology and business, have strong problem-solving abilities, excellent organizational skills, and meet the requirements for admission into the program. Designed so that completion will be possible in approximately two semesters, the program will be fast-paced and rigorous, but will provide students an opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to work as a programmer for companies such as CGI-AMS and Northrop Grumman within a short period of time.
Begin this fall semester. Classes are available both in the classroom and on-line beginning August 21. Among those available are: Java Programming I, Visual Basic.NET I, Software Design and C++ Programming I.
For more information on these classes and the Fast-Track Program, contact Victoria Ratliff, Interim Dean of Business Technology, at 276-523-2400, extension 208. Enrollment will be limited; therefore, interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
