The Larkins Set to Appear at MECC Welcome Week

Sisters Shaunna and Tina, otherwise known as The Larkins, will appear in concert at Mountain Empire Community College on Thursday, August 24.  The performance will be offered free to the public, and held in the Goodloe Center on campus from 12 noon to 1 p.m.  The duo plays and sings music described as a mix of traditional and contemporary bluegrass at its best. 

The Larkins recently entertained audiences at the 2006 Country Music Association Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee.  They have also appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and worked as performers at Dollywood.  The sisters have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in country music including Dolly Parton, who wrote one of the songs on their latest album.  Parton sings harmony on the single and appears in the music video for the song.    

The Larkins’ performance at MECC will be held in conjunction with the college’s annual Welcome Week, sponsored by Student Services.  For more information about The Larkins, visit their website at www.larkinmusic.com.
