Stories are now being accepted for the 16th Annual Lonesome Pine Short Story Contest. Authors are encouraged to submit an original story with a maximum story length of 1,500 words; the entry deadline is March 7, 2003.

The sponsor of the short story contest is Lonesome Pine Arts & Crafts, Inc. of Big Stone Gap. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in three categories: adult, high school student, and middle school student.

Winners will be announced at the John Fox, Jr. Festival on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Mountain Empire Community College.
