Governor’s School at MECC offers exciting, fun, and free ways to learn this summer


High school students with a wide range of interests will find exciting and fun ways to learn at the three-week Governor’s School held at Mountain Empire Community College this summer from June 9  – 27.   And the students earn eight college credits – tuition free.

Students get hands-on experience and can select from one of seven areas:  Drama Theory and Performance, Regional Tourism, Natural History of Southwest Virginia, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Robotics/Electronic Gaming, Video Creation, or  Forensic Science (Criminal Scene Investigation).

MECC’s Governor’s School 2008 is open to rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the counties of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson and the City of Norton that have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited, so students are encourage to apply early.
