MECC accepting applications for 2009 European tour
Think of springtime in Paris - and Liechtenstein,
Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
Mountain Empire Community College is accepting
applications for its fifth educational tour of Europe for the spring
of 2009. The nine-day trek will occur during the latter part of
May.
The trip is not limited to MECC students; parents,
friends, and members of the community are also welcome.
The cost includes round-trip air fare, hotel accommodations and
daily continental breakfast and dinner. For full-time MECC students
under 23 years old, the price is approximately $1900. For all other
participants the cost will be approximately $2250.
The MECC International Education Committee is providing
scholarships for international study on this trip. As part of the
prerequisite to obtaining the cash award, students must have maintained
a 3.0 GPA and have completed 12 credit hours at Mountain Empire
Community College. Students must also enroll in a three credit hour
European History class that will be taught during spring semester
of 2009.
The deadline for applying is January 31. To obtain
an application, contact Peggy Gibson in the MECC Office of Student
Services in Holton Hall or call 276-523-7472 or email pgibson@me.vccs.edu.
For more information on the trip, contact
Mike Strouth, Assistant Professor of History, at 276-523-2400, ext.
