About Governor's School
Governor’s School is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the counties of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson, and the City of Norton, who have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
The three-week program features a variety of hands-on activities in one of several subject areas selected by the student. Students spend time in the field, in labs, on tours, and in the classroom with the faculty of Mountain Empire Community College, receiving eight college credit hours – tuition free.
The 2013 Governor’s School will be held June 10 through June 28, 2013.
There are six (6) strands being offered this summer. They are:
• Drama Theory and Performance
• Forensic for the Biology Lab
• Entrepreneurship and Regional Tourism
• Social Networking User Interface Creation
• Art Illustration & Animation
• Engineering Design
Additionally, field trips will be made to area 4-year colleges.
