Simply the Best - Graduating Debt Free from MECC!

The cost of college tuition continues to rise, and many students find themselves with a large debt from loans when they graduate. Most of the students attending MECC are able to receive a certificate or their Associate’s degree without incurring any debt. Here are six ways to make college affordable.

First, MECC’s low tuition cost is 1/3 less than the average tuition and fees at Virginia’s four-year colleges and universities.

Second, MECC’s financial aid packet does not include loans that students have to repay.

Third, earn college credit while in high school with an 80% or more savings on MECC’s tuition and get greater savings when these credits are transferred to a 4-year college or university.

Fourth, many recent high school graduates are receiving two years of tuition-free education at MECC by receiving an AIMS Higher Scholarship.

Fifth, these AIMS Higher Scholars can continue their tuition-free education at UVA-Wise, making it possible to receive a debt-free Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree.

Sixth, Virginia’s Transfer Grant provides graduates from MECC with an associate’s degree and eligibility criteria to receive a $1,000 grant when they transfer to a Virginia four-year college or university. An extra $1,000 is available for majoring in engineering, math, science, nursing or teaching.

The MECC College Diplomats’ program promotes the development of leadership skills, gives students a chance to “make a difference” while obtaining their educational goals, and promotes good citizenship. Diplomats serve as role models for other college students and also serve in a promotional role for the college. Diplomats are involved in conducting campus tours, assisting with registration and conferences, speaking with prospective students, and serving as campus representatives at meetings, programs, and events. Diplomats are selected on the basis of willingness to work, enthusiasm, and a pleasant attitude. Diplomats are nominated each year by either MECC faculty or current Diplomats.
