  Character Education Partnership (CEP)
CEP is a nonpartisan coalition of organizations and individuals dedicated to developing character and civic virtue in our nation's youth as one means of creating a more compassionate and responsible society. The CEP will recognize schools ad school districts in its annual awards.  The deadline for applying is usually early in December.  To read the criteria, get an application, or learn more, (and for resources and project ideas) visit: www.character.org

CHARACTER COUNTS! is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nonsectarian framework that teaches the Six Pillars of Character. National FCCLA is part of the CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition. For resources and project ideas visit: www.charactercounts.org  

  Youth Service America (YSA)
YSA is a resource center which partners with thousands of organizations committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people in American, ages 5-25, to serve locally, nationally and globally. One of YSA's focus projects is National Youth Service Day (usually in April). National FCCLA is a YSA partner and encourages FCCLA chapters to implement community service projects during National Youth Service Day. To provide financial support in project development, YSA facilitates several grants from many sponsoring business partners.   Make A Difference Day
Make A Difference Day is a national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October . FCCLA chapters are encouraged to plan and implement service projects, and apply for awards, in support of this national effort.   Join Hands Day JOIN HANDS DAY calls upon all Americans, to reach across generations and work with new friends in identifying and fixing problem conditions right where you live. If you are a young person, get involved, develop your leadership skills and help make important decisions affecting your community.   Jump $tart! - Financial Smarts for Students  This coalition for personal financial literacy provides materials and activities to help students develop sound financial management skills.  This is a great resource for FCCLA members and chapters involved in planning Financial Fitness projects.   www.jumpstart.org

  Points of Light Foundation The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network engages and mobilizes millions of volunteers who are helping to solve serious social problems in thousands of communities. Through a variety of programs and services, the Foundation encourages people from all walks of life – businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, low-income communities, families, youth, and older adults – to volunteer.   National Organization for Youth Safety (NOYS) The mission of NOYS is to marshal resources that save lives, prevent injuries and promote safe and healthy lifestyles among youth. National FCCLA is a partner with NOYS and promotes project development through the FCCLA Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety (F.A.C.T.S.) program.   Red Ribbon Week  (Usually in October)  Red Ribbon Week is a national anti-drug event.  FCCLA chapters are encouraged to get involved in this event. For great ideas on how to promote and participate in Red Ribbon Week, check out:  www.drugsrdumb.com.

  Volvo for Life Awards  This program, conducted by Volvo Cars of North America,  seeks out and rewards everyday people doing extraordinary things in their communities.  FCCLA chapters that have worked on effective Community Service or FACTS programs might qualify for this award opportunity.  The deadline to enter is usually mid-October with prizes of up to $50,000 to the winners' selected charities.  For complete information, go to: www.volvoforlifeawards.com

  National FCCLA Publications The national FCCLA organization has developed resource guides and project materials for all the national programs. Many of the guides are in CD-ROM format and all provide helpful information and resources for planning dynamic activities.   Virginia FCCLA Dress Code This download provides a copy of the Virginia FCCLA Dress Code , which sets the standards for appropriate attire for state FCCLA meetings and other functions. Review this code prior to packing for the State Leadership & Recognition Conference, the National Leadership Meeting, National FCCLA Cluster Meetings, and participation in state and national STAR Events.
