Virginia FCCLA Summary of Adviser Awards And Recognition Opportunities
The Virginia Association is proud to have many outstanding adult leaders serving as advisers to local FCCLA chapters across the state. Advisers who have consistently affiliated a chapter and generated student involvement in state and national FCCLA programs are invited to apply for the Master Adviser Award. Those who already have this distinction are encouraged to mentor other advisers and apply for the Adviser Mentor award. Criteria for both awards are provided in the application download.

The Teacher of Teachers award provides an avenue for honoring those FCCLA advisers (current or retired) who have encouraged a former student to become a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and FCCLA adviser. Details on the nomination process are provided in the download.

State Executive Council Adviser

Give one of your students the opportunity of a lifetime – assist him or her in running for a state office. The state officers and their advisers comprise the State Executive Council and are responsible for planning and implementing leadership opportunities for other members and advisers – including the State Leadership & Recognition Conference, where new officers are elected. The SEC usually meets in June for a four-day leadership training session; attends the National Leadership Conference; holds a three-day planning meeting in the fall and winter; and conducts the state conference.

The application and requirements for state officer candidates are found on the State Executive Council section of this Web site.

Contact Connie Rhoton for additional information.
