Virginia Appalachian Tricollege Nursing Program
Virginia Highlands Community College
The Virginia Highlands Community College campus of the Virginia Appalachian Tricollege Nursing Program is located between U. S. Route 11 and Interstate Highway 81 near Exit 14, approximately one mile west of downtown Abingdon. Serving the city of Bristol, Virginia, Washington County, and the western portion of Smyth County, the nursing program accepts 52 new students each fall semester.
Information about admission requirements and the admission procedure is available through the VHCC college catalog. Applications are available through the Admissions office and must be submitted by January 15th of each year. During the month of February, applicants are notified of testing dates for the PSB Nursing Aptitude Exam.
Selection of students into the program is determined by criteria that includes GPA, completion of general education courses, LPN license, being on the previous year’s alternate list, and PSB Exam scores for academic aptitude and natural science aptitude.
