Grant year runs from Sept. 1st, 2009 to August 31, 2010.
Description of Service: Members provide 900 hours of service over the period of the grant year. Seven hundred twenty hours are as literacy tutors and 180 hours are a combination of training and service projects. Members receive a Living Allowance of approx. $213.46 every two weeks (minus taxes), a scholarship of $250 (total $500) in the Fall and in the Spring. Upon completion of successful service, member is eligible for an Education Award of $2,362.50 that is held in trust by the Corporation for National and Community Service for up to 7 years. The Education Award can be used for educational expenses to any accredited college in the nation. Great addition to one's resume.

Description:The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program(RSVP) invites adults age 55 and over to use their life experiences and skills to answer the call of their neighbors in need. RSVP volunteers help solve serious problems in their communties.

Change lives by mentoring and tutoring young people.Getting involved is the key to RSVP. Your hard work can solve problems, and you'll get back even more than you gave.
