Are You Interested In Attending College?
Adult re-entry students can be faced with many barriers when making the decision to return to college. Going to college after a long absence can be a scary and overwhelming challenge but also a very worthwhile experience. Earning a degree can make a huge difference in one’s professional (better pay and more job opportunities) and personal life (self-confidence and sense of accomplishment).
You Are Not Alone…
The adult re-entry students (students 25 and older) at Mountain Empire Community College consist of 52 percent of the student enrollment. Statewide the percentage is even higher at 55 percent. The average student age at MECC is 30 years old. Their presence represents a national trend of adult re-entry or “non-traditional” students attending college.
