I am from playing in mud and Clorox trying to get the stains out,
I am from always lived on a hill,
I am from hunting and being out in the woods,
I am from Christmas at Mums, and after words taking a nap,
From Hunter, and Cory, and Katie Leigh,
I am from wanting to go out side at night and staying out till dawn,
From “Don’t fight with your brothers” and “You’re grounded”,
I am from Sundays at church and sometime sleeping in,
I am from Georgia, from Grandmommy’s pies and chocolate cakes.
I could once see clearly,
Now my vision is split,
I was once your favorite,
But you’ve found another,
I knew this would happen,
But not this soon so,
I am now just some glasses,
But nothing without you.

Aeryn had just woken from a nightmare, it was the same one she’d been having for the past two months. Aeryn and her best friend, Sarah, were in a sort of temple surrounded by people in cloaks. Aeryn looked to the front of the room and saw two people. They were dressed like an Egyptian Pharaoh and Queen. The King and Queen both looked at Aeryn and Sarah and smiled. They beckoned Aeryn and Sarah to come closer to them. Aeryn was entranced by them. The Pharaoh took Aeryn’s arm, and put her wrist to his mouth and bit. She looked at the ground and saw blood, then woke up.
Aeryn looked around her room, then at her alarm clock. It was 7:30am; she had to meet Sarah in five minutes. She jumped out of bed, ran to the bathroom, and brushed her teeth, then, down stairs to make a sandwich. She ran back to her room and got her clothes on for school. She grabbed her bag and ran to the front door just as Sarah came onto the porch. Aeryn ran out the door and came to a skidding halt in front of her.
“Hey, Aeryn,” said Sarah jumping out of the way so she wouldn’t get hit.
“Hey,” said Aeryn, “sorry, I was in a hurry, I slept too long.”
“That’s okay, ready to go?” asked Sarah. Aeryn nodded, they started to walk to school. They didn’t talk much, well, Aeryn didn’t. Aeryn listened a little but she was thinking about the dream, it bothered her.
So at lunch she told Sarah “What,” said Sarah “he bit your wrist and was drinking your blood?”
“Yeah,” said Aeryn, “weird isn’t it?”
“Very weird,” Sarah said.
Weeks passed, Aeryn’s dream became more intense every night. So, intense that some nights she didn’t even sleep and fell asleep in class and woke up screaming. One day after school, Aeryn and Sarah were talking about their senior trip.
“Come on go. It’ll be fun.” said Sarah.
“I’ll think about it. But I’m not saying I’ll go.” said Aeryn.
After two weeks Aeryn decided to go. The day of the trip came Aeryn had second thoughts but, she still went. The senior class was on a twenty hour flight, from Los Angeles, California to Cairo, Egypt so most slept but Aeryn and Sarah didn’t get much sleep at all. Aeryn kept having the dream and Sarah was just too excited to sleep. But every now and then Sarah would nod off but, just for a few minutes then she’d be wide awake again. Aeryn would watch her and laugh. After about an hour or two Aeryn got bored of watching Sarah and fell asleep.
The next thing she knew she was being shaken and woke up quickly. Aeryn jerked, Sarah was shaking her.
“Come on Aeryn wake up.” she said.
“Okay, okay I’m up. What is it?” Aeryn asked.
“We’ve landed, come on.” said Sarah. They got off the plane, got their bags and went to their hotel. It was late at night and Aeryn and Sarah just put their things down and went to bed.
The next morning they put their things away, went down to the hotel dinning room and ate breakfast. They went sight-seeing after breakfast they looked at some old buildings and art that was around Cairo. They were out till about nine o’clock then went back to the hotel. Aeryn and Sarah watched TV for a little while then went to bed.
It was a little after three in the morning when Aeryn woke up. She had the feeling that someone was watching her. Aeryn got up and looked around the room, nothing just Sarah asleep. But then, she heard something outside the window. She went over to it a voice said, “Stop Aeryn!” Aeryn froze she looked out the window “W-Who are you?” she asked.
“I am Orpheus, King Orpheus,” he said.
“How do you know me?” asked Aeryn half scared and curious.
“Your dreams.” he said, “Did you like them?” asked the king.
“NO!” shouted Aeryn, “I thought I was going crazy!”
“Well,” he said, “now I feel bad about that. I’m sorry.”
Aeryn heard a noise behind her and whirled around Sarah was sitting up and looking at Aeryn. “What are you doing?” Sarah asked.
“Talking to...”,she turned around and Orpheus was gone. “Where did he go? He was just here?”
“Who, Aeryn?” asked Sarah.
“The guy from my dream, he was just here, I saw him,” said Aeryn looking out the window “Come on,” she said.
“Where are we going?” asked Sarah.
“To find him.” said Aeryn looking at her. Aeryn got dressed and started for the door.
“Where are you going to look? He could be anywhere.” said Sarah.
Aeryn looked at her and said, “I know where he is. Trust me.”
They ran down alleys, through the streets, and every where until Aeryn stopped at an old run down building. “He’s in there I know it.” ,said Aeryn. Aeryn and Sarah circled the building and finally found a way in. They went down a long hall until two large doors were in front of them.
“Come in, Aeryn and Sarah,” said a voice but the voice was not Orpheus’s; it was a woman’s voice. They opened the doors and went in. Aeryn had never been so scared in her life it was just like her dream. She wanted to run but something was stopping her. Orpheus looked at Aeryn, then, she started to walk towards him. When she got to him he took her arm in his hands and put her wrist to his mouth. He bit down hard Aeryn screamed she tried to pull away but he was too strong. Until, he finally let go. Aeryn fell to the floor the people surrounding them were laughing. She looked over at Sarah the Queen had done the same to her and she looked dead. Orpheus and Athena, the Queen were laughing with the others. Aeryn looked around, (the window) she thought, (no it’s boarded up). She looked at her watch it was about nine o’clock now (Yes, the sun’s up) she thought. One of the people around Aeryn and Sarah asked, “Can we have them now?”
“Why not, we have no use for them now,” Orpheus said.
“I’m not going to die like this.” Aeryn said in a low voice. They started to come closer to Aeryn and Sarah. She looked over at Sarah and then jumped up. Aeryn ran towards the window, she grabbed a metal pole that was lying on the floor and smashed the boards. Aeryn did this to every window. The sun filled the room. There were screams of pain as one by one they all burst into flames. The King and Queen were last Aeryn smiled at them as they caught fire. She looked around, the place was on fire. Aeryn grabbed Sarah and dragged her out of the building. She got outside and passed out.
Two days later she woke up in a hospital, with people all around her. Sarah was in a chair next to her.
“You saved me Aeryn, thank you,” Sarah said.
“You would have done the same for me, Sarah,” Aeryn said. They hugged and the doctor came in to check on Aeryn. He said that she could leave in a few hours if she felt like it. So, a few hours later she and the others were on a plane home. Now, her nightmare was finally over.
